   Medicare Program Part D

Medicare Program Part D CMS Release

The Medicare outpatient prescription drug plan benefit (referred to as Medicare Part D) is to become available to Medicare-eligible individuals on January 1, 2006. As of today, health plans across the country are trying to determine how to best coordinate with this new Medicare program. Depending upon the method your health plan chooses to coordinate with Medicare Part D, you may be either required to apply for Part D benefits, or required to NOT apply for Part D benefits. Affected individuals will be contacted by their health plan administrator prior to the Medicare Part D Open Enrollment Period, which begins in November 2005, with more information and instructions on how to proceed.
