SERS Benefit Recipients Unaffected by Budget Woes

The current state budget crunch does not in any way affect SERS benefits. We are aware of a rumor that benefit payments would be delayed if the state legislature doesn't agree to an FY05 budget by the June 30, 2004 deadline. If a new budget isn't reached by then, state payroll could be affected, but benefit payments are guaranteed by state law and will continue to be paid on the same date.
