Board of Trustees Vacancy

Benefit Choice Open Enrollment Period
May 1-31, 2017

Benefit payments will continue in the event of a strike.
In the event of a strike, your monthly benefit payments will continue uninterrupted. SERS will have to prioritize activities and some functions, such as personal counseling and retiree workshops will have to be suspended for the duration of a strike.

All SERS benefit payments will continue even without a State budget.

The State Employees’ Retirement System (SERS) of Illinois will continue to pay all types of benefits, as scheduled every month, even without a State budget.  SERS benefits are paid from a $16 billion trust fund and a delay in monthly State contributions to SERS will not affect the timing or amount of your benefit.
