   SERS Benefits will continue

SERS BENEFIT PAYMENTS WILL CONTINUE WITHOUT A STATE BUDGET OR COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENTS

Even though there is no State Budget and many collective bargaining agreements are still being negotiated, SERS benefit payments will not be interrupted. SERS has more than $15 billion in assets that can be used to pay benefits if there is a significant disruption in employee and State contributions. Even in the event of a prolonged budget impasse, plans are in place to ensure the continued and timely payment of all SERS benefits.
