Announcement of Active Member Trustee Vacancy

Due to the retirement of Trustee Rob Fanti, the SERS Board of Trustees is seeking candidates to fill an active member trustee term that ends July 14, 2021. To be eligible, you must be an active SERS member with at least 8 years of SERS service credit at the time of application. If you are eligible and interested in applying to complete this active member trustee term, you must complete and file a Statement of Candidacy that includes the reason for your interest in the position, a resume' and a petition with 250 signatures of active contributing SERS members. You can find the required documents using the links below. The completed documents must be submitted to the Executive Secretary at the System's Springfield Office at 2101 S. Veterans Parkway, Springfield, Illinois no later than the close of business on April 14, 2017.

Information submitted by applicants will be provided by the Executive Secretary to the SERS Board of Trustees prior to the April 25, 2017 Board meeting and the active member Trustee may be selected on that day.

Trustees serve without compensation, but may be reimbursed for some travel expenses. The Board meets four times annually in the Springfield Office, with the option of attending meetings via videoconference from the Bilandic Building. The Board's primary responsibilities include approving benefits, reviewing and approving the operations budget of SERS and certifying the annual State contribution as presented by staff and the system's consulting actuaries.
